Requirement
A Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, looking to teach medical students nationally with market leading interactivity and collaboration.
A Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon needed an easy to use interactive technology and platform to teach students in the UK and possibly abroad.
Challenges
The challenges facing iBoardTouch were in:
- How to enable specialist surgeons to interact with students
- How specialist surgeons could teach through an interactive technology with similar disciplines as lecture theatres
- Control of student documentation/work from surgeon to student and vice versa
- Helping medical students to learn via videos, narrated by surgeons in a live environment, in singles and in groups.
- Full interaction between all students between each other in different locations controlled by the surgeon.
The actions iBoardTouch took to address these challenges were:
- Worked with a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon to help deliver a detailed solution that would fulfil the initial requirement.
- Re-developed and modified the iBoardTouch VCC application to help deliver the challenges posed by the specialist surgeons.
- Trained Surgeons on iBoardTouch Real-time collaborative and Interactive technologies to help deliver a successful solution within the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust.
iBoardTouch actions resulted in:
- iBoardTouch successfully used as a training aid, enabling remote on-line interactive teaching. Enables lecturers (In this case, the Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon) to show bespoke presentations, xrays, medical records, videos, and teach students from home, on a one to one basis or lecture based interactive environments.
- Multiple licences being purchased for surgeons and students
- iBoardTouch i55 sales as well as i10 tablets and iDeskPro AIO purchases with further sales into 2013 planned and rolling out for iBoardTouch VCC software, i55/i65/i70 and i10 MS Windows Tablets
iBoardTouch provided a range of products within the NHS that allowed the specialist surgeons to interactively teach / collaborate / video conference though Interactive Large Format Touchscreens, Tablet Devices and All in One Integrated desktop PC’s to students located locally and globally via iBoardTouch hardware and VCC Cloud Software.
